Heart Thoughts

In the past few months, there has been so much going on that I have, for some time, been unable to update my blog. I hope that later on my time will be better arranged to incorporate further updates. In the meantime, I would like to give you different personal thoughts that I had written down over the previous months. Many times, as I study the scriptures, I will write down spiritual statements and truths that God has been speaking to my heart about. I write the statement and the date it was written. Here is only a few of the many “heart” thoughts I have had over the years I have been preaching.

All through your life you will be faced with the test of knocking yourself down from the center of the universe and making Him the focus of your heart's passion.” (05/12)

I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. (Acts13:22)
It is understandable that this meant that David had a heart of purity, but the ‘after my own heart’ certainly implies a “running after.” David had a pleasing heart, because it was a pursuing heart for the Lord's will and presence.” (05/12)

Psalms 133:1 states, A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
If unity and love is the language of heaven, then strife and bitterness is the language of hell.” (05/12)

Christianity today looks more like a mass industry of commercialism instead of the marvelous entity of Christ. (04/12)

The best way we can read the Bible is read it prayerfully (pray for wisdom and guidance), persistently (make it a daily habit), passionately (desire it), and purposefully (read to get something out of it). (04/12)

How long has it been since you have not only read the Bible, but rejoiced in it! That it wasn't a big headache for you, but a blessing to your heart. (04/12)

It appears that we are so caught up in a rich society that we have lost sight of the RETURNING SAVIOR. (04/12)

Psalms 12:8 says “The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.” Wickedness is exalted in this world, but it is because God’s Word is not exalted in HEARTS and HOMES. (04/12)

Colossians 3:17  “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” In the Christian life, To “Do” for the Lord is simply Human activity, but To “Do” for and “Delight” in the Lord is Holy Activity. (04/12)

Many churches during Easter and Christmas-time get so caught up on Bigger and Better Programs that they forfeit the simple power in Preaching the gospel and uplifting the Person of Jesus Christ. Many times we get so fixed on celebrating a certain “season” that we bypass Christ the Savior altogether. (04/12)

Regarding the gospel, we are called to SHARE with PASSION, not simply SIT in a PEW (04/12)

No matter where you are and who you are God’s grace is sufficient (04/12)

The Vision of the American Church is like a man preoccupied with killing a fly, while driving 100 miles an hour on winding roads. We must get our focus back on God’s purpose, relinquishing our petty squabbles and prejudices that hold us back from true, spiritual power. (03/12)

We sing, many times, Sweet Hour of Prayer but I believe that for some to be true to what they say it should be called Sour Minute of Prayer! (02/12)

Is God’s Word to you a Dust Collector, or a Delightful Treasure? (02/12)

Life is most MEANINGFUL, when it is most WORSHIPFUL (01/12)

Star Light

I remember, when I was a child, my brother and I wanted to camp out in our front yard. We even talked our friends into joining us. We begged our parents to let us sleep out under the stars without a tent, because it would not rain that evening. It was somewhat foolish, but we were not thinking about the insects, strong winds, or even the morning dew. We just thought it would be fun to sleep outside. I think we lasted a solid hour in the dark, but once the cold wind blew and the mosquitoes landed, our imagination dissipated and we ran back indoors. Though we didn't stay out long, I do remember the stars that night. They were unusually bright and seemed to crowd the sky more than any other night. I don't think I will ever “grow out of” being in awe over the beauty of stars. I don't believe King David did either. He wrote in Psalms 19, “ The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what his hands have made. One day tells a story to the next. One night shar...

Madam Darkshade continued

My most despicable Marah, The abyss of my heart has grown beyond measure! Everything your sister has told me about your efforts - how undeniably successful they are - is just another reminder as to why I always saw myself in you. So, that foolish grungy has finally declared himself as bishop. Naturally, during their meeting, there was tremendous conflict and a choosing of sides. Classic. It reminds me of the struggle at Corinth, when so many fought over who was on Paul's side and who was on Apollos' side. Of course, you are much too young to know what I am referring to! Now, I must remind you that there is still much work to be done. Divide and conquer. The ecclessia is split, therefore, waste no time instilling pride and hatred. I know you are enticing our self exalted puppet to start his own assembly, which is good, but before he does, through slander and lies, he must cripple those who withstood him. Make him feel betrayed. As if he were a great captain who ...

The Devil Wears a Tie (Continued)

Of all the ways the devil will tempt a person, catering to one's vanity is his favorite means to get them to fall. After all, before the inception of time, he also succumbed to pride. He believed he had an inward right to the heavenly throne, and through promulgating the potential of self exaltation to other angelic beings, he led a massive insurrection against the Almighty. There was absolutely no chance of a “successful rebellion”, but reason often dissipates when one is steeped in prideful bitterness. Simply put, the devil began to hate God, for being, God. This attitude of entitlement parades itself in every heart. We may be able to mask it for a while, but given enough hardships and displeasure, we often become the corrupted clay, vilifying the ways of God and distrusting the commands of His word (Isaiah 29:16). The apostle Paul's warning to believers at Ephesus was,  “Don't give the devil any opportunity to work  (Ephesians 4:27).” Yet, in the garden of Eden, we ...
